Clinical Trial Diversity

Participants in clinical trials are heroes - maybe medicine’s greatest heroes. Because if people didn’t participate in clinical trials, there wouldn’t be any medicines at all.

Those who take part from communities that have historically been overlooked or marginalized in medical research are a special kind of hero. How would it feel to constantly wonder if the treatments being offered are truly meant for you? Diversity in clinical trials is the only way to break down those barriers of doubt and exclusion.

Whoever you are, wherever you are from: your health matters. Your experiences matter. You deserve to be included and represented in the search for better treatments and cures.

Here’s what we achieved in 2023 to make diversity a reality in our clinical trials:

100% of US studies with planned “first-patient-in” have diversity goals.

In the US, there was an 8% increase in the percent of studies achieving diversity targets.

In Brazil, diverse enrollment reached 22.9% and diverse sites reached 25%.
